drumroll, please...

It has been seven months since my senior composition recital and I made a promise that I would post the recordings of my music. Well, it wasn't possible for me to post my music on blogger because it either isn't possible, or I'm just too stupid to figure it out. Well, without further ado, I present to you...

zacharyvanhouten.com

Here you can catch all the updates on my musical life including performances of my pieces, premieres and any other concerts and what not I may be participating in. I hope that you all get a chance to check it out. It's not super impressive (yet!), but I'm going to keep working on it and hopefully I'll turn it into something amazing and awesome.

I heard you got a hit with your website and you're going up to salt lake at a concert or whatever dad said

Boy, that was fun. I looked at your website. Noticed some awesome punctuation and some very simple and good design choices.

;)

I also listened to all of your pieces. I really enjoyed hearing them again (especially from the fancy website). Made me remember some really good times as well as appreciate some gooood music.

I had a few different thoughts than I had when I’d previously listened to your pieces:

Translucence, to me, was an insight to the nature of pure sound. It’s something we’re rarely brought attention to on a daily basis. I don’t think I’d ever have an opportunity to hear the piano the way you’ve presented it, except that you presented it that way. It seemed to me that you explored the interaction of sound, like I would the mixing of color and all its possibilities. Way to not play “right out of the tube”. : )

I love Midnight Snack (and I’m sorta biased). But I love it for more than just that reason—it’s such a narrative piece that even if the listener didn’t know what it was composed for, they’d still get a pretty good story in their head.

I still think it’s amazing how precisely and perfectly Amber played the flute piece. And how perfect that piece is!

On That Morn—this sounds extra awesome when listening through ear buds and surround sound! You painted a really epic image in my mind this time. It was kinda unsettling—all post apocalyptic and spacey. Like some epic movie theme. Or something Kevin would draw. Definitely something Chelsea would listen to. (SO! EPIC!) ;)

Suspicious Wisdom is really narrative to me as well. I just love listening to it, sorta dancing to it in my mind. What a fun piece. I love the title as well…it just fits.

I could go on, but I guess I’ll leave some room on the interwebs. Don't wanna take up all the space.. :D

I just really enjoyed hearing all your pieces again. Thanks for adding your voice (so to speak) to the music world for all of us to enjoy. I look forward to hearing what you come up with in the future.
